soon we had two beautiful, green chrysalises to marvel at. but, as you can imagine, watching them hang in the critter cage is about as fun as watching paint dry for a four year old.
but there they hung, doing their thing —quietly and miraculously turning into monarch butterflies.
then this morning we saw movement! one had hatched — a beautiful butterfly had emerged and was carefully opening her gorgeous wings, readying herself for flight.
bonzo and i gasped with excitement! he was awe struck, totally fascinated and immediately smitten with his butterfly who he promptly pronounced to be a girl and named her sweet angel baby the butterfly.
we waited for the chooch to come home before we set her free. bonz held her for a moment before she flew to the top of the orange tree to sun her wings.
he shouted, "bye sweet angel baby the butterfly! i hope you live in our back yard!" as he watched her go.
the only thing more incredible than watching mother nature at her finest is watching this guy marvel at it all.
